We’ve been bursting with excitement all week — and today we finally got to do the best part of the job.
This year’s Easter Egg Colouring Competition was our biggest yet. Entries came flooding in from children across our region, each one more creative, colourful, and impressive than the last. Honestly? Judging was no easy feat with nearly 800 entries!
But after much deliberation, we had our verdict — and on the last day of term, we headed out to deliver the news in person.
🥇 Winner — Skylar, Ysgol Clawdd Offa
First place goes to Skylar, whose entry absolutely blew us away. The detail, the colour choices, the texture put into every single part of that egg — it was a clear winner.
“My inspiration for my Easter design was a chick being born, and popping out of it’s egg!”
Skylar’s school, Ysgol Clawdd Offa, receives £100 in Book Tokens — and we had the pleasure of handing them over today. Huge congratulations, Skylar!
🥈 Runner-Up — Isaac, Ysgol Clawdd Offa
Not only did Ysgol Clawdd Offa take the top spot, they also claimed a runner-up place! Isaac’s entry was wonderfully creative and gave Skylar a serious run for their money.
When asked what his inspiration was he said “It’s a character from a TV show called Invincibles, and it’s my favourite character!”
A brilliant effort, Isaac — you should be very proud. 🎨
🥉 Runner-Up — Molly, Rhostyllen
Rounding out our top three is Molly from Rhostyllen, whose entry caught our eye straight away. The creativity and effort on show was brilliant, and it was a joy to come and visit today.
Molly was gobsmacked at her win, but the school secretary said “This couldn’t have happened to a more deserving pupil”
Well done, Molly — a thoroughly deserved place on the podium!

Visiting the schools today to hand over the book tokens was genuinely one of our favourite moments of the year. These competitions exist because we believe in the communities we work in every single day — and seeing the children’s faces when we arrived made every second of judging worth it.
