During the Easter Holidays on Tuesday 31st March 2015, we held a free training session for our primary teachers through education specialist training company, Creative in Excellence. The course was run by the Deputy Head Teacher of Ysgol Emmanuel in Rhyl and they are one of 6% of schools in the UK that have received excellent in their Estyn inspection.

County do not offer such training to their supply staff so unless you are employed by a school in a permanent or long term position, you will not gain the advantage of the experience and information that such courses have to offer.

The session focused on “The Curriculum” and focused on the following points;

-Using IT to motivate and inspire

-What is a skills based curriculum?

-How to manage for just one day-the important parts of the curriculum

FEEDBACK

“I really enjoyed the session both in pace and content. I look forward to more future training opportunitiesĀ to develop my teaching career.”

“Thanks to Excell for organising this course for us. It has provided me with invaluable information about incorporating LNF into the curriculum, especially when on supply.”

“A fabulous course which I thoroughly enjoyed. I felt that it has given me a good overview of the primary curriculum in Wales. I have taken away lots of new ideas and feel refreshed about the classroom.”

“Excellent and enjoyable. The activities took me out of my comfort zone and it reminded me how young people might feel when struggling with any aspect of learning. All the LNF information was useful specific to primary.”

“Lots of ideas for games that will enhance children’s thinking and learning.”

“After a short break from teaching, I feel energised again and more confident in delivering the curriculum. An innovative approach, thank you.”
