In an increasingly inclusive and diverse education system, the ability of school staff to communicate effectively with all students is essential. British Sign Language (BSL) is the primary language for many Deaf and hard of hearing individuals in the UK, learning BSL empowers staff to break down communication barriers that can often lead to feelings of isolation or frustration amongst hard of hearing learners. Even a small amount of BSL knowledge can make a big difference during day-to-day interactions. Incorporating BSL into staff training isn’t just about language—it’s about creating equitable learning environments and equipping educators with the tools they need to reach every learner.
This training session is designed for candidates looking to develop foundational skills in British Sign Language. As this is an introductory session, no previous BSL knowledge is needed—just a commitment to creating a more accessible and supportive learning environment.
Please note this session is being held online via Microsoft teams.
