Excell Supply are currently recruiting for a Director of Community based in Wem near Shrewsbury. The school caters to a range of children aged 9-16 with Special Educational Needs (SEN), specifically Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school provides non-residential education for up to 84 students with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Individual Development Strategy:
Lead programs supporting personal growth, focusing on Spiritual, Moral, Social, and Cultural (SMSC) development.
Create enrichment activities and cultural experiences to broaden students’ horizons.
Implement targeted interventions for students at risk of social exclusion or criminal exploitation.
SMSC & Global Citizenship:
Develop programs promoting SMSC, helping students become responsible global citizens.
Lead initiatives challenging prejudice and encouraging social responsibility, fostering empathy and equity.
Broadening Horizons & Character Education:
Oversee character education programs that build resilience, leadership, and empathy in students.
Lead initiatives to expose students to diverse cultural experiences, contributing to their overall personal development.
Supporting Vulnerable Learners:
Work with staff to identify and support vulnerable learners, reducing risks of criminal exploitation.
Establish mentoring and peer-to-peer support programs, collaborating with external organizations for additional pathways to personal growth.
Personalised Interventions:
Oversee small group sessions and personalized interventions for learners needing specific development support.
Collaborate with academic and pastoral staff to create and implement individualized development plans.
Professional Development:
Stay current on developments in safeguarding, welfare, and pastoral care, ensuring best practices are followed within the school.
Person Specification:
Essential:
- Degree in a relevant field (e.g., social work, psychology, education).
- Proven experience in leading personal development programs and working with vulnerable learners.
- Experience in SMSC development, risk reduction, and delivering character education programs.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage both staff and learners effectively.
Desirable:
- Professional qualifications in SMSC, safeguarding, or character education.
- Experience in managing interventions to reduce criminal exploitation.
