IT Technician
Excell Supply are looking for you! We have an exciting role that has just come up for an IT Technician at a secondary school in Abergele.
The school are looking for someone to work roughly three days a week and to start as soon as possible.
You must have some level of IT experience to be suited to the role, which is briefly outlined below:
Job Purpose:
· To maintain hardware and software used by staff and learners in the school and to provide technical advice on ICT matters as they relate to the school.
· To support teachers in developing the use of ICT to support the curriculum.
· To support the ICT manager in the delivery of major infrastructure developments.
1. Main Responsibilities:
· Supporting Teachers and Learners:
· Assist the teacher by supporting individuals or groups of learners during practical aspects of learning. (This may include extra-curricular/IT activities)
· Provide information, advice and assistance for teachers, learners and other members of staff on the basic use and setting up of computer equipment, software and procedures.
· Assist with the production of material and equipment required for teaching as requested, including photocopying, printing, downloading of material, work sheets and help sheets.
· Technical ICT Support:
· Set up equipment such as laptops, data projectors, interactive whiteboards, sound systems and other specialist ICT equipment, ensuring that systems are ready for use and operating correctly.
· Maintain ICT installations, peripherals and software; rectifying faults, replace consumables, updating software and setting up new equipment.
· Detect, diagnose and resolve basic computer, server and peripheral device faults. Interpret diagnostic information, prioritise resolutions and determine if external support is required.
· Follow a schedule of ICT maintenance activities across the school, making amendments as appropriate for additional tasks/requests.
· Support data integrity within the school.
· Make suggestions for improvement and efficiency as appropriate.
· Provide cover support in the print room during busy periods/ cover sickness absence/ appointments to address photocopying.
· Respond to ICT Service Desk queries that arise throughout the school day as directed by the ICT Systems Manager.
· Provide additional support for ICT at special events i.e, Parents Evening, Rewards Evening etc. if required.
· Health & Safety/Safeguarding:
· Work to and give guidance to others on the ICT acceptable use policy. This could include guidance on ICT issues relating to e-Safeguarding.
· Implement school back-up, virus protection and security policies including staff and pupil access to data and files. Note risks to ICT systems and suggest precautions.
· Check ‘Smoothwall – Internet Reports’ on a daily basis. Report on on-line searches done by students with regard to ‘Adult Material; Suicide; Radicalisation; Abuse; Bullying; Criminal Activity. * Reporting and providing evidence on all of the above to the DSP/Headteacher on a regular basis to provide ongoing safeguarding procedures via e-mail.
· Ensure that basic safety checks are carried out and escalate problems as required, maintain necessary records. Contribute to the writing and reviewing risk assessments associated with using ICT and operating ICT equipment.
· Ensure the safe disposal of obsolete equipment, used consumables and waste materials in line with recognised procedures and legal requirements.
· Follow procedure for Network Access with internet usage in line with policy document.
· Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment within the department, ensuring all routine and non- routine H & S procedures, regulations and checks are carried out and adhered to al all times.
· Ensure that both routine and non- routine checking, cleaning, maintenance testing and repairing of ICT equipment are carried out to the required standard.
· Administration:
· Assist in the maintenance of an up-to-date inventory of ICT software & licences in school. Assist with the security of equipment and asset labelling as necessary.
· Operate an efficient system for stocking, storing and distributing items used in the Department/School, including any associated record keeping.
· Receive and check deliveries and associated invoices, notify the appropriate person of any discrepancies.
· Record loans of ICT equipment. Replace consumables and monitor usage in ICT areas. Keep a log of the types of faults fixed and investigated to refer to if similar errors/faults reoccur.
