About the Role
Excell Supply are seeking a passionate and dedicated Mathematics Teacher to join a specialized boys’ SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school in Welshpool. The school caters to students from primary through to secondary age, providing tailored support to help them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
As a Mathematics Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering an engaging and accessible maths curriculum to students with diverse learning needs. You will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young learners, supporting them in building confidence, resilience, and a love for learning.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan and deliver creative, differentiated maths lessons that meet the needs of pupils with SEMH needs.
• Support students in developing essential numeracy skills while fostering a positive attitude toward learning.
• Build strong relationships with students, providing consistent support and encouragement.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, therapists, and support staff to implement individual learning plans.
• Monitor and assess student progress, adapting teaching strategies to ensure all pupils reach their full potential.
• Promote a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment, respecting the unique needs of each learner.
About You
Essential:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching Mathematics at primary or secondary level.
• A strong understanding of SEMH needs and strategies to support learners effectively.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
Desirable:
• Experience working in a specialist or alternative provision setting.
• Familiarity with trauma-informed teaching approaches.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and SEND legislation.
