Pay: £14.28 – £17.50 per hour | Start: ASAP | Contract: Flexible supply work

Some pupils need more than a lesson plan to succeed. They need someone who notices when they’re overwhelmed, understands when words don’t quite come out right, and celebrates the small wins that can make a big difference.
If you’re the kind of person who can bring calm to a busy classroom, patience to a tricky moment, and encouragement when it’s needed most, this could be the role for you.
What you’ll be doing
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll provide one-to-one or small group support for pupils with additional needs. Your role is to help create a safe, structured environment where every pupil has the chance to succeed.
Your day might include:
- Supporting learning activities tailored to EHCPs or individual targets
- Adapting tasks so pupils can access the curriculum in a way that works for them
- Preparing resources such as visual timetables, communication tools, or sensory materials
- Recognising early signs of anxiety or dysregulation and responding calmly
- Recording progress and behaviour and sharing feedback with the teacher or SENDCo
- Encouraging independence, confidence and participation — both inside and outside the classroom
No two days are quite the same, but the goal is always the same: helping pupils feel supported, understood, and capable.
What we’re looking for
- Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with additional needs (in schools, care settings, youth work, or similar environments)
- A patient, empathetic and calm approach
- A relevant TA or SEND qualification is helpful but not essential if you have the right experience and attitude
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
- Understanding of safeguarding or willingness to complete training with us
