Kate is our new addition to help support Primary Schools across the Wirral and Warrington! Kate said: “I worked as a teaching assistant for around four years altogether, in schools and day nurseries and with children with special educational needs. Every day is different, and children just bring so much joy to your life. “The job satisfaction was my favourite part, seeing a child come in straight from home at age three, working with them for the whole year and seeing them come out the other end with a whole array of different skills and ready for mainstream schools.”

Although supply teachers require specific qualifications, those looking to work as a teaching assistant need not be deterred if they have not yet worked in a school environment, as Kate believes there is a wide range of key transferable skills that can help them to succeed. She explained: “With teachers, they need to have the relevant qualifications, experience helps as well, but the beauty of supply is that they can go into lots of different schools and work with different age groups.
For Kate , working with children as a teaching assistant always felt like a vocation. The 41-year-old from Mold studied childcare straight from school, before obtaining a degree from Wrexham Glyndwr
University and using her passion to work as a teaching assistant in primary and secondary schools. Now, she is using her experience to work as an education recruiter and is currently looking for teachers and teaching assistants who are keen to make a difference by working in a supply role.
Kate is an account manager at Excell Supply, who match people with their ideal job in schools across North Wales, Cheshire and Wirral. She explained: “After working in schools myself, I decided to go into recruitment around eight years ago. I wanted to help other people who haven’t necessarily tried it before. “You can work in a teaching assistant role without having specific qualifications and go on to make a difference to children’s lives. I just want people to have the job satisfaction I’ve had.”
