About the Role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Food Technology Teacher to join our School in Cheshire East and inspire students to develop practical cooking skills, nutritional awareness, and an understanding of food science and technology. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching and committed to creating engaging, hands-on lessons that foster creativity and independence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons in Food Technology across Key Stages KS3, KS4, KS5
- Develop schemes of work that meet curriculum requirements and inspire students’ interest in food, nutrition, and healthy living.
- Teach practical cooking and food preparation skills safely and effectively in a well-equipped food technology classroom.
- Assess, record, and report on students’ progress in accordance with school policies.
- Ensure health, safety, and hygiene standards are maintained during all practical sessions.
- Organize and support extracurricular activities, workshops, or competitions related to food and nutrition.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the Design & Technology department and contribute to whole-school initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience:
- A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
- A degree in Food Technology, Nutrition, Home Economics, or a related subject.
- Experience teaching Food Technology at secondary or post-16 level (desirable).
- Strong knowledge of food science, nutrition, and current curriculum standards.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
