Getting into Character for World Book Day

Published on: Monday, 9th Dec 2024

Schools across North Wales and the North West celebrated World Book Day by becoming their favourite book characters.  Pupils and staff alike arrived at school on Friday in fancy dress in honour of the wonderful world of books, with Excell Supply running a competition to find the “best dressed” in the region.

Two schools were announced as winners and secured £50 each of Waterstones vouchers:

Our first winners were Lilly-Belle Bush and Zuzanna Pietrzak (pictured above, left to right) from Ysgol Penrhyn who became the Mad Hatter and Pippy Longstockings.

Ysgol Emmanuel in Rhyl also won vouchers for their school with year 5 dressing as a range of characters from the worlds of Roald Dahl and Dickens as well as more contemporary authors and impressive costumes for books such as Gigantosaurus and Bananas in Pyjamas.

Well done to all those who took part!
